will try not to leave spoilers.
It was a VERY good superhero movie.
My one and only pet peeve is with 3D these days. Is James Cameron the only director with any imagination to actually put it to use? Save a few bucks and watch the 2D version. 3D really doesn't add anything here.
Puny god! Hulk smash!

(27,559 posts)It's just that it doesn't seem like directors have any imagination to use the technology.
and this was a decent director... just no 3D imagination.

(27,559 posts)whether you liked Avatar's story, or not there was clear visual imagination behind the mise en scene.
Directors need to go to 3D school.
Avatar and some animated movies have been the only ones that have used 3D well.

(12,041 posts)Hugo was a visual masterpiece, Scorcese used 3D in a very artistic way that no other 3D film I have seen has accomplished. Avatar was great too, but even James Cameron admits that Hugo had even better 3D than Avatar.

(12,132 posts)it gives me a headache and my wife can't see any of it anyway (she has no depth perception) and we just think it is still a hokey gimmick (even thought Avatar was hokey although much higher quality hoke.)
but glad to hear the movie itself is good - been excited for it for a long while!

Don't like it.
I'm much more interested in the story than huge special effects.

(11,916 posts)My tween son's birthday is Cinco de Mayo and along with his presents (a few ebay finds of hard to find Skylanders and Transformer Beast Wars figures), he wanted to see The Avengers and do dinner at Don Pablos.
The Avengers is definitely one that we'd see on the big screen. We've pretty much seen every superhero movie that's come out since my son's been 5yo. There were a few I was dissapointed with (meaning we could have waited to see them when they came to On Demand). The most recent one falling into that category was The Green Hornet.
As far as 3D goes, we usually stay away from it. I think there has been one exception -- Avatar. We saw it first as a regular movie, then loved it so much that a few weeks later we took the whole family back out to see it in 3D. We can't wait until Disney and Cameron finish the Avatar world they're working on. I think it's due to be finished in 2016.
