Ficks

I've spent the last few days moving to a smaller apartment. When I first looked at the place I noted that one of the handles on the bathroom vanity had been pushed into the door, leaving the handle hanging from a rather noticeable hole. The property manager said it would be fixed.

Interesting use of a drain cover, yes?

Threaten to have a professional come in and fix it if he/she doesn't take care of it by the end of next week. (Sending him the bill, of course. Or deducting it from your next rent payment.)

for those of us who rely on housing assistance -- we lack the power to make such demands. As long as the property passes the Housing inspection (checks stove, frig, heating, plumbing, nothing cosmetic) it is approved. There's a very long list of hopeful applicants for housing, and a much shorter list of participating properties -- a reality grasped and wielded by owners.

and I'd bet this isn't the first time this particular ficks has been tried.

Unacceptable, of course, but you do have to admire his ingenuity.

Would definitely tell him the repair is unacceptable and he needs to replace the door. Also looks like they didn't have the place cleaned after the last tenant left. The caulking around the sink counter is covered in mold. Needs to be cleaned or removed and recaulked.
