A friend who had tapes of a NYC station that would host interesting people like William S. Burroughs, etc. I can't remember the call letters, but one thing they presented was an S&M parody of "Honey".

See the welts, how big they've grown...

They also shared this:

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that the song frequently appears on "worst songs of all-time" lists,[4] and in April 2006, Todd Leopold of CNN named it the "Worst Song of All Time."[5] In the 1970s when radio DJ Tony Blackburn was going through his divorce with his wife Tessa Wyatt, he regularly played "Honey" and would comment live on air about how much he missed his wife.[6] This was parodied in the "mockumentary" Smashie and Nicey: The End of an Era.

Folks at the end of their lives by choice need to be supported in spades. A very lonely and hopeless place to be. There just isn't any do-overs when it comes to 'the sideways'. What happens to people when that time comes? What do they need the most? Wish we knew, and better yet had a way for people to alert others...sort of a HOTLINE TO HEAVEN (really us eh?) AND I wish there was a pill for it...like the millions of commercials for superficial stuff every day. Isn't there something we all collectively can do? I thought when we lost other movie stars we idolized we'd start doing better. If we had President Clinton we'd be moving forward from where we were. Not anguishing and preparing for 'do over's'. We are certainly in it deep.

"Shannon" was written about the death of Beach Boys member Carl Wilson's Irish Setter of the same name.

Having it come on the radio when we were in the car (the only time I was near my father at the time) was excruciating. I hated the situation, I hated that stupid song...thank goodness now it’s kust musically nauseating.

where they did a tour through the house of Honey as the song was being sung. I can't find a clip of it, though.

But, friend, it hasn't been too long...

It wasn't big.

I laughed at her and she got mad,
The first day that she planted it...

Was just a twig.

That is some Leonard Cohen level poetry there.
