(11,343 posts)I thought it was a coyote at first. There's two of them that come up in the yard about every morning.

(7,725 posts)are unreal pictures! They are cagey at best, on a relaxed day (for them). Great shots.

(11,343 posts)These are the first foxes to come so close and so regularly. I think they must have cubs nearby.
I saw a little black bear run behind my house one day. (I stayed inside lol) it was beautiful, yet terrifying at the same time. He wondered away (thank goodness!) and hasn't been back.

(149,632 posts)Amazing photos of a fox (?) that is behaving pretty boldly!
This is the way to shoot them............with a camera!

(11,343 posts)Our place is kind of a sanctuary for wild creatures. All my neighbors are hunters and kill just about anything that moves

(13,360 posts)Are you back east? Im thinking it a different breed than what we see in the western sierras.
Thanks for sharing. Some beauty amidst all this chaos...

(11,343 posts)I think they've got pups somewhere. There's two of them that come up. The one I was able to get a pic of will get within 15 feet as long as I'm quiet. They're such beautiful creatures!

(34,136 posts)The foxes are bolder during the time they have to hunt to feed their cubs (or are young foxes called kits?). We generally have foxes around here - one year we had both gray and red foxes!
Down here in North Florida, red foxes are not natives. They were introduced to the South for the "sport" of fox hunting. Now they and the grays have reached equilibrium and so have the coyotes.

(11,343 posts)I've got a yard full of wild things this year! There's some baby blue jays in a bush next to the porch. The mom and dad don't like me getting too close lol. I've also come up on a black snake. He scared me, but I don't mind him hanging out and keeping the copperheads away.

(11,361 posts)Is it true that they climb trees?

(11,343 posts)The pair creep out of the woods, hang out for a minute, then return to the woods. It would be pretty cool if they did climb tho!

(34,136 posts)Too bad my camera was across the house and by the time I ran and got it the fox was gone.

(22,756 posts)I have 7000 volt electric fence up because of the fox and bears in my yard... I love to see them as long as they can't kill my chickens and bees

(11,343 posts)I don't have any chickens yet for them to terrorize, thank goodness

(10,098 posts)As the city expands they are showing up all over. A graduate student is doing a local study and you can post your sightings on a website. A neighbor told me she saw one running through my backyard.

(11,343 posts)The critters are being run out of their environment. It's really sad.

(205,467 posts)I have seen a few in my neck-of-the-woods - saw one when I drove home unusually late a couple of weeks ago, but it was smaller and it was a red fox. I slow way down when I drive home after dark, I see deer occasionally and bunnies fairly often, especially in my yard!
