Our long hair, Ms. Prissy, actual name Priscilla, was very smart. Right about 9 AM, she and the rest of the menagerie would rise and shine and let loose with their various renditions of "Feed me!".

Once free, Prissy would run to the fridge and scratch on the door and when we opened the door she scratched on the crisper drawer. That's where her veggies were kept. She knew.

We'd feed her and then go about feeding everyone else. The cats were afraid of Ms. Prissy so they didn't mind too much coming second.

Ms. Prissy spent her days chasing the cats around the house. They spent their days getting away from her and sleeping.

Kitty, the budgie, who got his name because he meowed all the time and would call the cats by saying, "Here Kitty, Kitty", was very patient. He'd call the cats and they would eventually get close enough to the cage for him to nip them - and then Kitty would cackle.

The cats never learned.
