A good tux lasts

So there are four of who are basically bloodbrother friends. Three of us played little league football together and the fourth was on the high school team but we didn't really hang out together until after high school. We are all in our 50's now. Our annual golf weekend was two weeks ago.

So the second oldest of all our kids graduates from high school next week. The oldest graduated last year is on a full ride academic scholarship in California. My friend sends a picture his boy pre-prom. Beautiful date and a nice tux.

It's the same tux his grandfather wore to his prom in the 1950's. A good tux lasts.

I own a standard black single-breasted, notched lapel dinner suit. I’ve had the same one for about ten years and it’s never let me down.

I also have a much more trendy gray tuxedo with grosgrain-trimmed lapels, rather than grosgrain facings. I wear it to shake things up a little.

But anytime I’m not sure whether to dress conservatively or trendily to a black-tie affair, I opt for the classic black.
