(4,139 posts)I listen to WFAN most days and the hosts can barely contain their contempt for the Knicks management most of the time. LeBron would have a much better shot at another championship playing with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

(182,803 posts)He could retire and wait for teams to come for him at the end of next season. THEN make his move for the next season. Next year is not a good time for him to move. Lots of big moves/free agency after next year.
Note - if memory serves he'd actually have to be retired a full season to get out of his current situation with Cleveland but anyway....
Watch Chris Paul - he will be a great indicator. He wants max money (LeBron isn't going to not be the highest paid player on his team as he has been in Miami and Cleveland) and the Lakers have TWO max money spots to fill next year.

(27,804 posts)he won't play in Oakland, because the Warriors are moving across the bay to San Francisco and will play at the brand new Chase Center before the 2019-2020 NBA season.
(He could do worse)

(5,790 posts)for that matter, so would the Raiders
Maybe Oakland can lure in the Sacto Kings

As far as the Oakland Raiders.....anything's possible (Vegas?)

(3,479 posts)summer. That makes the Lakers a much more appealing destination.

(7,522 posts)George also wants to win and LA with just him and what they have now is at best fourth in the West, if that.
John Fante
(3,479 posts)hometown Lakers. They are heavy favorites to land his services.
The Lakers can also take on two max salaries this summer. Even if they strike out on LeBron in 2018, they can go after Kawhi in 2019. PG-13 wouldn't be "alone" for long.

(143 posts)I think one more year with this team will show whether or not he was meant to be with them. I mean Bron's performance was Barney-Stinson-level legendary this season, but sadly you need a team of skilled players that gel to win everything. Hopefully this next season will be the one where the Cavs stay as that team for the whole season.

(47,552 posts)He's the best player of his era.
He's a passable player/coach.
He's a horrible GM.
He's been playing what...15 years, right? You think he'll play twenty? I don't.
My opinion is that he needs to somehow get himself to a situation where they can set him up for an Elway-type career dismount: win, win, and retire. That seems kinda obvious, though, and if I could figure that out I'd be making GM money.
Algernon Moncrieff
(5,790 posts)Say 5% with an option to buy 5% more. That's the only way I see him staying.
Eh... I'm not sure that's 100% true. I think he really was blindsided by the Kyrie Irving departure, and then he and the Cavs were grasping at straws to make a workable team. But he's not Pat Riley putting together a Bosh/Wade/James type trio in Cleveland.
Normally, I'd agree; however, he's performing at an extraordinarily high level for this point in his career.
There are two types of scenarios here: one is another Heat-type trio deal, and Houston seems to be the most likely landing point. Harden/Paul/James could work together and finally create a team in the West that can beat Golden State. The second scenario reminds me of a different Miami Heat story - when aging (but still formidable) Shaq left LA to go play with Dwayne Wade. Lebron could do this in Philly with Ben Simmons or LA with Lonzo Ball. LA might have the edge since they have cap room, and also Paul George has indicated his desire to play there.
At this point, I think he's like late-career Jordan; he needs two pieces (a Pippen and a Rodman) to make championship run. I'm just not seeing how that happens in Cleveland.
San Antonio? Maybe. Pop's a coaching genius, and I could see Lebron wanting to work with him and learn from him. Golden State? Unless they were to shed pieces as part of the deal, I think Adam Silver would nix that move because nobody could realistically compete with that team. If'd be the NBA all-stars, every night. But it'd be a blast to watch.

(554 posts)He should take those finely tuned flopping and whining skills and try out for the Italian National Team. Could win a world cup on penalty kicks!

(65,173 posts)I don't understand the Lakers move from a professional standpoint. Really wanted him in Philly. But maybe his family comes first and he and his loved ones like it there. That's understandable.

(5,790 posts)Paul George re upped with OKC. San Antonio isn't going to make a deal for Leonard with the Lakers. Had he gone to Philly, he'd have had a great shot to win the East. No matter how good the Lakers are next year, they are no lock to win the West.
