Ugh. I hate house hunting with the heat of a thousand white hot suns. - UPDATE

Went to see a house yesterday. Several other people were scheduled to see it as well. Put my offer in.

Holy shit! My offer got accepted!

Did the earnest money today.

On to inspection!

It is such an amazingly good feeling when you see a house and you want it!

And then you get it!

Enjoy!

I know it's not a done deal yet. We still have a few hurdles to get over, but the house pretty much checked off most of my boxes (nice big yard without a lot of trees, fenced in, three bedrooms (didn't get the second bathroom, but at least this place has a tub and not just a shower like the house I rent now and I really only needed two bedrooms...hello library room/office), a garage, large kitchen (no formal dining room that I wouldn't use anyway), covered back porch, full basement, plenty of storage space, appliances are fairly up to date (at least the stove and fridge, didn't get my gas range, but I haven't had one for 30 years anyway...the dishwasher was adequate, but that's an easy fix) and of course, the one bedroom is a vile shade of purple that I can change easily, and it has whole house fan (a bonus since it wasn't on my list).

I'm pretty stoked.

Some people can't or won't.

Painting over a color you can't stand is really an easy fix! Even the dishwasher isn't too hard. And maybe you can find a place to put another bathroom.

Have fun!

I'm the opposite - love looking at houses. Not going anywhere here (next house is a nursing home or worse) so I scout Zillow to find a condo for my son.

I moved this past week. That's the part I truly hate, but I love my new pool.

At least this time, I won't have to drive a huge truck from the Pacific Northwest to the Ohio valley.

Thanks.

It was on the "nice to have" list rather than "necessity" list.

Having a bathroom installed might be a little more than I want to think about anytime soon. The cosmetic changes are going to be fun though. I've already started thinking about the window treatments and wall colors I want. It'll be nice to be able to do all that without having to get the okay from my landlord.

I'm also glad the house is relatively more modern than some I looked at. Some of the solutions I saw to everyday problems in an older home were less than compelling (i.e., the top loading washing machine in the already smallish kitchen for example or the refrigerator location outside the actual kitchen in another).
