My laptop died

I had a Lenovo which is about five years old. I keep getting a message from Microsoft that it is trying to repair itself but it never does. It would likely cost more to fix it than what it is worth.

I have an eight year old HP laptop that I never use in "mothballs". I am using it now , even thought it has a lot of tics , until I get a new one.

I paid about $300.00 for it. It lasted five years. Seems fair. DemocratSinceBirth Jun 2018 #5

computer I am finding out. I know I will need a new one soon. My Lenovo makes this buzzing noise and freezes. I always have to shut it off then back on. very annoying. Next time I am going to get an Apple.

If you created a back up disc at the beginning, you should be able to run it. You will lose all the files on your hard drive.

If you think it is a hard drive issue, they are relatively inexpensive and easy to replace.

If you have your product code for your Windows 7 (which you would need for a system restore anyway) and you didn't create a restore disc, you can purchase a $10 generic Windows 7 disc from Amazon. This is what I did. I had to load some of the drivers, but my computer is working great now (except for the bad keyboard).

But like I said in my original post I'm using an eight year old HP until I get a new one.

All things being equal I'm getting another HP.

I saw a Dell for 209, a Lenovo for 219, and a HP for 300, all 15.6 inches.
