At 07:49:33:25 there is a shot of future REM guitarist Peter Buck waiting outside the Atlanta venue where they did their first US show.
He told me a couple of years later, that he didn't have a ticket and tried to rush the door when the SP began their set.
He said "they threw me out on my ass".
I guffawed and he smiled.

(4,520 posts)We were locked in an ice storm but that didn't stop me from stealing the family car and driving 70 miles. The protesters outnumbered the fans 10:1 Dad was waiting when I got home. He took the keys and my licence of course, threatened to call the cops but didn't. I was grounded the final 5 months of my Sr. Year. No Sr. activities, no prom. Yeah It WAS worth it!

I was living in Athens GA when the Sex Piatols came to ATL in '78
I had no car - and my roommates **hated** the Sex Pistols so much they wouldn't even drive me to the bus station
Pre-REM Peter Buck worked at WUXTRY - a downtown Athens record store. We talked about music when I bought and album he liked.
Looking at the video again, I think the lady in front of him was his longtime girlfriend Ann (she had a pageboy hairdo when I knew her later in the 80's).

(22,977 posts)never saw them live but I did buy the album. My parents were out one Saturday afternoon so I decided to blast it on the living room stereo. We had this little chihuahua mix dog at the time, whom I didn't like and it didn't like me. About the time 'Bodies' was ending that dog comes barreling into the living room and promptly pukes right in front of the speakers. I remember thinking, "Very punk!" and we became buddies afterward.

The pompousness of the reporter is galling.
I love the Sex Pistols.

I said Danny, they are asking your gender.
And he said oh, like the gender pistols?
The kid has always been a hoot and a half.
