Made a little friend the other day.

He was in a tree ring that I demolished and replaced with a better one. I relocated him to a creek near my house. Took me about 30 minutes before I could grab him.

He's a good boy, and I think he will like it better by the creek.

I had to remove the old concrete blocks to start building a new tree ring. He was on the grass near there initially and I almost stepped on him. He went into the ring and was sunning himself on one of the blocks. I gave him a few hours to get out of there, but he stayed put.

It took me a long time to catch him because he would slither in between the blocks, and I wanted to make sure I didn't grab him too hard and hurt him. I finally got him into a Home Depot bucket and walked down to the creek to release him.

I cannot harm any animal, even snakes...it crushes me if I accidentally hit a squirrel with my car or something like that. I wonder if he will find his way back here?

They keep bugs and rodents away. We always look around before mowing so we don't accidentally injure one.
