I finally saw it at night in a storm on a crab boat doing oil charters anchored off a drill rig in the Bering Sea in 1984.
I was the only one of three awake and on wheel watch, talk about a scary movie watched in a place with atmosphere.
I also saw John carpenters "The Thing" for the first time on the same night.
Talk about nightmares. 👻

(2,682 posts)My brother and a friend met me and a friend for drinks after work. We went to see The Exorcist with a little buzz and a highly skeptical attitude. I remember giggling at some parts. Since I'm an athiest, the movie held no terror for me. I remain puzzled why people reportedly got sick and fainted.
The most memorable part of the evening was when we left the bar. It was a lovely, somewhat warm evening. I said "It sure is nice out.". My brother's friend said, " Thanks, I think I'll leave it out. ". I'm laughing, even as I write this.
