It's been out for a while, 2016 and they started filming a 2nd season in Feb. Only 6 episodes in 1st season, so I just might give t a look.

Another good Australian show is Glitch. A bit of the Scifi genre, but it held my interest and I'm waiting for a 3rd season.

These are my fave non-US crime dramas on Netflix...

Happy Valley

The Five

I dunno, I'll think of more.

Read they stated filming a 2nd season in February.

Makes me sad though to see even the Aussie's can be corrupted. I know it's fiction, but........

I have a hard time understanding Brit and Aussie accents. I tried turning up the volume, I sat close to the TV so I could lip read, I closed my eyes to see if that would help. There are so many good British programs on Netflix, but I get so frustrated, I give up on them. What's the secret?

I went to "settings" and clicked on subtitles but they didn't show up. It worked great on CNN, though!

Usually, there is an option below the progress bar called "Audio and subtitles"

You need to turn it on per show, sometimes it's not a global setting... Below is a link from Netflix describing how to enable subtitles on various devices...

Sometimes Netflix (or a DVD of an old TV show) doesn't go out with subtitles, but the closed captioning information is still encoded for your TV to translate.

I've also noticed that I've had to reselect subtitling on Netflix or Amazon even if I've done it before a half a dozen times.

white Midwesterner is not ashamed to admit I used subtitlest throughout season 1 of The Wire cos I couldn't understand the black Baltimore lingo - CANT IMAGINE watching that show without it - so much I just would not have understood. By season 3 my ear had become tuned. Ive read that one of the reasons The Wire wasn't a huge commercial hit when it first ran was because so many white folks couldn't understand the lingo. That's really sad! We got the technology, lets use it!

pay attention to context. Fortunately one of my best friends of more than 35 years is cockney so I recognize a lot of English slang. It also helps that I’ve visited Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand.
