2. There was a story out of Uruguay during one of the world cups

that the ballet company in Montevideo had tv's in the wings of the theater during the performance and that when their team scored a point they all made an (unchoreographed) jump into the air. The military dictator of the country became aware of this and demanded to know who had done such an unprofessional thing (because he wanted to fire them.) The answer came: all of them: so if you fire them, no more ballet company.
When I played opera in Italy, the concerts were sometimes rescheduled if Italy was playing at the same time. Or, the conductor would come into the orchestra pit after the break (a few minutes after we'd all settled into our places) and signal the score to the orchestra.
