We never had any hopes that we could do an introduction, but they obviously wanted that. https://thedo.do/2MkFdVo

(34,136 posts)I watch them as they swim to their favorite areas, am sometimes saddened but more often happy to see trees go down along the ponds edge. They have been here several years now. I was amazed at how huge the adults are, like little bears when you get close enough to watch them. I would guess the kits will move on this year at some point, they are 2 years old I believe.
Having them here is a mixed blessing. I do not like how the landscape has changed a whole lot but they are incredible creatures. They stuff our pond drain and we have to clean that out often but the big culvert is always there in case. They built that bank from an 8 foot bottom right off the dam all the way up so that they can reach the drain easier. Amazing creatures. I am hoping that tonight or maybe a little later I can moor the little paddle boat close to the area they love and watch them closer. My neighbors hate them, I have had numerous offers to have them shot because they can't fish as easily as there are little pointed tree stumps everywhere now and they are afraid they will step on one. LOL, at this point I cannot believe they would even ask me, really? NOPE! No hunting anything.

Not a good song, but a song nevertheless.
