It's so cool to see lightening bugs in the backyard

Never saw them as kids.

1. I was young in the 50s and we had swarms of them

2. Spending summers as a kid in Chicago visiting my Grandma, I remember the fireflies/lightening

Bugs on hot summer nights. We didn’t have them where I lived I San Francisco so they were fascinating to me. I’m glad they are still around.

this year... as a kid we used to collect them in a jar (that was before I knew it wasn't very nice)

4. More than usual here in SC PA

and more ants this year. The lightning bugs are much prettier.

5. I love how they light up the trees in our yard from top to bottom! They blink in them like stars!

6. I hadn't seen them since I was a kid

I grew up in the upper Midwest and only saw them one summer when I was around 5. I saw them again during a weekend I spent in southern Iowa 25 years ago.

Now I find myself in Tennessee and those things are everywhere. It seems magical when they begin appearing every night. They fill me with the wonderment and awe I felt when I was 5.

7. They are on my flowers, busy mating.

I try not to disturb them. I do watch though.

My son wanted to put them in a jar but I told him to just watch them fly around outside
