(11,686 posts)I have always gone under since I learned many many years ago that temptation of the feline variety can not go into a restroom with toilet paper over and not energetically unroll it onto the floor. If you do not believe me look up Jackson Galaxy's advise for cats vs toilet paper.

(226 posts)the way anyone besides me replaces the roll. That's final.
Laffy Kat
(16,377 posts)And I'm counting my ex as a boy and NOBODY would replace the TP, or PTs, or copier paper but me, although they were always willing to tell me it needed to be done. I am so over it.

(13,736 posts)Mr. Wheeler had a lot of patents related to toilet paper and this one was far from the first, the first would have been at least 20 years earlier.
Some of the patents show the roll going the other way:

(6,280 posts)It sits in a little wicker basket, and I'll bet a dollar to a donut I can dispense the precise number of sheets I need faster and easier than anyone who hangs it.

(6,280 posts)My master bedroom bath belongs to my wife, so I'm relegated to the guest bathroom. I do however remember to put a roll on the hanger when I know we're having company so they don't think that we're complete barbarians.👹🙋

(9,663 posts)my wife will for the sake of "decorum". It's faster and simpler to be left off the hanger.

(6,280 posts)..... How many people are out there who hang their toilet paper because "that's the way it's always been done" and have just never discovered the simplicity we experience.

(10,885 posts)Hanging this way also makes it easier to stop the rolling progression.

The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,674 posts)And at the time the TP roll was invented, people who could afford indoor plumbing probably didn't have splintery wooden indoor walls. Spiders are a different matter, though.

(2,239 posts)What's more annoying? Changing the toilet paper, taking out the trash, refilling the ice cube trays, or having to replace the batteries in your t.v. remote control?
They all suck.
