starts with the Phoenix lights which have been thoroughly investigated over the years and very thoroughly debunked.

I have occasionally seen things that I couldn't recognize, but I've never been convinced I've seen something from a distant alien civilization.

As others have mentioned, it's pretty strange that with so many cell phones capable of taking video and photographs, there aren't a whole lot of reputable such video and photos in recent years. To suggest that the aliens somehow know all about our picture-taking capability and somehow avoid them is quite silly.

I have a son who is getting his PhD in astronomy, and he just spent the past week at a conference on exo-planets in Cambridge, England. Lots of cool things are being learned these days. He did recently tell me that there's reason to believe that the Universe is actually so young, and intelligent life is so unlikely to happen, that we may be the actual first intelligent species in our own galaxy. Or, as Steven Hawking once said, any aliens out there would probably be more terrible and more deadly than we can imagine. Luckily, interstellar distances are so vast that travel between stars, even within our own galaxy will probably never be possible.

87. The Phoenix Lights debunked
Mon Jul 9, 2018, 02:04 AM
Jul 2018

Yes, they have been debunked as lights on A10 airplanes. They have been debunked as a hoax with hot air balloons and flares. They have been debunked as airplanes dropping flares. Perhaps a military drill which was proffered sometime after the fact. If it were "thoroughly" debunked, there should only be one. I'm not saying they were UFOs, but I'm simply not satisfied with the many offerings in theory as to what they were.

Second paragraph:
"Reason to believe" - not proven to be
"Unlikely to happen" - but possible
"Would probably be" - but might not be
"Probably never be possible" - but might be possible

Each one of your statements leaves open the possibility they could be wrong.

How can something be " thoroughly" debunked when there are multiple claims of what really happened? Some people need to understand that if something is 100% thoroughly debunked, there can only be one explanation that debunks it, and it should be proven without a shadow of a doubt, you know, with facts and all.

Good on your son, but, Astronomy Professors are notoriously Conservative these days and the hay they try to make w their spiel is often close to laughable. Indeed Aliens would want to come here. ESPECIALLY idf it's just a dimension away, and they can cross that barrier.

Believe what you want, but persisting in thinking that easily explainable things are mysterious and "from out there" doesn't help credibility.

My son is not an astronomy professor, but he is highly skeptical of lots of things. However, he's fascinated by lots of things also, and keeps an open mind, which is not incompatible with being skeptical. It's the willingness to believe without double-checking anything that frustrates me so much. I see it all the time, on FB, here, on emails I get when someone forwards something without even asking if it makes sense, and so on.

Keep in mind that the anti-vaccers are those who listen to anecdotal stories without ever questioning or exercising some sensible skepticism.

And yeah, the debunking of the Phoenix lights holds more water for me than the unquestioning acceptance that they are somehow proof of extra terrestrials. I dunno, just a gut feeling here.

Twice. Once when I was about 7. We used to lie in the back window of the car when traveling. I was on the window in the day when I looked up and there was a silver white cigar shaped UFO flying high over our car. I watched it for a while as it flew across the sky and disappeared in the horizon.

The next was a bright blue-white blinking light in the sky. I was 14 and with a group of friends in a Shakey's parking lot. The light was bright, moved in an erratic pattern as it swiftly blinked its was across the sky. The funny thing is we all saw it, but didn't talk about it.

I saw a red light up in the night sky traveling west to east. Soon a second light appeared after the first and then a third and so on until there were, if I recall correctly, 6 red lights traveling in a row towards the east. Then the first light disappeared, followed shortly after by the second and then the third until all six lights were gone. After a few minutest, a red light appeared further to the east and then the second and so on until all the lights were visible and they continued their journey towards the east until they faded from view.

46. I don't remember exactly what time of evening it was
Sun Jul 8, 2018, 11:33 AM
Jul 2018

I would venture sometime between 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Late enough to be fully dark but not so late that I wouldn't be walking to a friend's house.

Do I believe it was from outer space? I do not know if it was from outer space, another dimension, another universe, or whatever. The only thing I can say for certain is it did not seem like any craft humans have the capability of building with even our current technology today, more than 20 years later. As to where it came from, your guess is as good as mine.

It's color was pretty much black with a slightly greyish brownish tint to it. As I described in the other thread, when I first saw it I actually couldn't make out its shape. It looked like moving stars, which turned out to be electric lights, which, as it passed over and then beyond me, I could faintly make out the shape of a boomerang craft. But at first I couldn't make out its shape at all because it blended in perfectly with the night sky. I could only see the lights. As I previously said it was completely silent. It made no noise at all. That is something that every account I have ever read about them has confirmed. They are totally quiet, no engine noise at all. And no matter how fast they travel, they never seem to produce a sonic boom even when it seems they are breaking the sound barrier.

My gut feeling upon seeing it was pretty much along the lines of, "Holy shit! I just saw a damn UFO!" I stopped in the middle of the street and just watched it disappear into the distance. I don't remember how long I stood there, but I think I was in a state of shock. But it was probably for several minutes afterwards. That might not seem like a long time, but it is if you're just standing the middle of the road looking up at the night sky completely bewildered.

I did not tell my friends about it when I arrived at their house. I figured they'd just laugh at me. I did tell my mom about it when I got home later. She seemed a little skeptical but open minded. And that was pretty much it. I never really talked about it much or did anything else after that. As I mentioned in the other thread, I looked it up on the internet a number of years later, and to my shock discovered that many people have seen and described the exact type of craft I saw, and there's even pictures and video of it.

I don't talk about it much, but if people ask if I believe in UFO's or if I've ever experienced anything unusual, I tell them. I don't keep it secret. But at the same time, it's not something I put on blast either. It was a brief moment in my life that probably lasted less than 10 seconds. But it was enough to make me believe that there are things in this world that we do not know much about.

Interesting. So interesting. You know, you can make reports to MUFON in your state. After you make your report it comes up in a categorized listing (by time and are I think), and you can see if the sightings on that day were relevant to what you described for us. Sometimes other peoples descriptions (if they saw the same thing), can shed new light on what you remember, or may have forgotten. So appreciate the time you took to flesh that out in relation to your other report. MUCh appreciated. I think you had a visit most extraordinary.

we had just come out of the evening showing of "Close Encounters" and were headed home when we saw this light in the sky. It was very bright and seemed to move quickly. It was me, my wife and her then 25 year old sister.

We followed the light which luckily was on our way home. Rather than go home we kept following as it circled back toward the theater. We were spoked and curious.

After about an hour the light seemed to get closer. Then what was a solid light started breaking into a series of lights. That then became letters.

Finally it got low enough that we could see that the series of lights were actually letters that we could eventually make out. It had something to do with Goodyear tires.

I am guessing it came down to land, but we didn't stick around. It was now @ midnight and our fantasy was busted.

Most of the sand-grain craft are mech.

But they're rare because only the mech have that kind of patience. The speed of light is absolute.

Most "space aliens" don't use any spacecraft at all.

If they want to be someplace in some form they will themselves there. It comes at a cost. They can never return to their own time.

I've seen some odd things in the sky, including an early flight of the F-117, but no alien spacecraft.

However a few of the people and other animals I've met in my journeys here... clearly not of this planet.

my understanding is that UFO sightings are down historically, and I suspect that is partially due to the advent of cell phones with better cameras.

I don't believe in alien visitation. A whole host of reasons why it's unlikely we are being visited, and if the aliens can figure all of those problems out, I feel fairly confident they can figure out how to avoid being seen altogether.

And if they wanted to be seen, well, there are plainly more logical ways to go about that then IMO.

It requires a "sweet spot" of really smart, and not that smart at the same time IMO.

I absolutely believe there is alien life out there...the universe is too big...it's just really, really, really hard to get very far thanks to Einstein. And if a civilization has managed an FTL work-around...well, they are so advanced past us I cannot imagine us being very interesting to them.

32. In Aug 2015 while flying over

what I estimated later to be somewhere over Montana while heating to Seattle, I was loving the views out the window. It was very beautiful so I took three pictures with a digital camera. I took other pics including some great areal shots of Mt. Rainer.

When I got back to my computer I checked them out and the first two shots of the area in Montana were really cool.

But the third shot was super cool. In the same area where there was nothing but Montana under clear skies, there was what appeared to be a tornado from above. A small cloud in a vortex.

So I checked with a expert in unusual clouds and weather phenomena like Sprites and he said it definitely was NOT a cloud. Instead he thought maybe it was a reflection of a light in the jet's window from where I took the pics. So I thought, ok that it. But it was still a really cool pic so I made it my computer desktop pic.

About two weeks later, the computer crashed. I had everything backed up, but I could never find the three pics of Montana anywhere. Not even on the same memory card where I had the pics of Mt. Rainier.

Now, I wonder what that "vortex" really was.

34. I saw a shape-changing UFO, while I was on my bicycle.

It changed shape from a triangle to an ice-cream cone.

Had I turned, that would have been my story.
But as I got closer I saw it was a bunch of helium balloons in a bunch like grapes, tethered to a nearby car dealership.

This thing with lights were hovering around the lake and had flashing lights. At first we thought it was a helicopter but it was quiet. Then it kind of skimmed around the area like it was checking out the area and the light flashed on all of us because we were up at that point up staring at it and then it zoomed off quickly. We were,”did you see that, what was that”? The mother who has since passed on told me years later she was scares shitless that night but had to be calm for the rest of us kids.

You may have been visited by peoples so advanced and ancient, that religions were born based on the wonder of it. See paintings of Christian figures that have UFOs in the sky.
When they 'come back'...assuming they actually left and aren't still here, you may already have drawn a picture of "them/it" from your sighting so long ago.
Thanks for telling us that.

They were invading the school, everyone was hysterical, but I couldn't see them.

I went crying to my dad and he told me about War of the Worlds.

48. I thought it was a dream.
Sun Jul 8, 2018, 12:54 PM
Jul 2018

Yet when I recounted this story a few years ago a friend of mine remarked, "Dreams are usually forgotten, sounds like a memory."

I was around 7 or 8 years old and was awakened in the wee hours by something, not by a sound or person or bathroom urge but something that directed me to a bedroom window. I looked out and high in the sky there was a very bright object in the distance that caught my attention. It seemed like a very bright star until it began to slowly move then stop. I kept watching, no real thoughts about it, just watching. I couldn't tell you how long this went on but after watching this thing start and stop a few times it just suddenly took off and disappeared completely in the night sky. Funny thing, I wasn't frightened about it, just curious.

I guess I wasn't a good candidate for abduction.....or was I?

I was in my girlfriend’s back yard and a restaurant owner friend was visiting. We noticed a large sphere above us. Its surface was opaque and shimmering, at about 10,000 feet, as high as the Sandia mountains. It hovered and oscillated there about fifteen seconds. Then it shot northeast toward Placitas, turned on a dime, at about 60 degrees, and disappeared over the mountains in about two seconds. 12 miles in two seconds! Speed estimated at over 20,000 m.p.h.

Really cool. How do balls fly right? There's no wing surface for lift, so it has to be anti gravity or something we just don't know. Great Comment. TY.

54. saw the classic flying saucer
Sun Jul 8, 2018, 01:53 PM
Jul 2018

disk-like. Silver. My brother's girlfriend and I were returning from swimming at a quarry. It was late afternoon and I was in a peaceful frame of mind, just staring out the window in a daze. I was maybe 19 or so.

I saw the saucer come over our car, which I recall was a new Bonneville that her parents had just bought. It followed us for the longest time. What's odd is that I had no inclination to say, "There's a flying saucer tracking us." Instead I just watched it for the longest time. It was hypnotic. It was close--about the distance of a second-story window.

Eventually I said something and then she saw it, too. The saucer left us so fast it was like the disk sunk into the horizon.

55. My old man and I saw one, and coincidentally, it was truly blue.
Sun Jul 8, 2018, 02:06 PM
Jul 2018

We were watching some MST3K together in our living room late one night and I saw a -bright-, moving blue light reflected off a map case on the opposite wall. My father and I both jump at the same time, look at one another, exchange a few confused utterances, then bolt to the windows.

A bright blue light, far brighter than anything else in the area, was crossing our lawn from right to left, maybe twenty yards from the windows. Our exterior lights clearly illuminated the ground it was hovering over, but the light wasn't being carried or reflected by anything; the light was floating independently, levelly, and at a constant pace. After about thirty, forty five seconds of movement, the light stopped, hovered in place for about a second, and then was just -gone- with no trace. It didn't even seem as if the light went "out" for there was no brief afterglow or anything; it was just gone without even a residual afterimage superimposed on our vision. After this, my dad and I went out, scoured the ground and the landscape for clues, but came up empty. There were no footprints of any kind, no scorch marks (we though it may have been ball lightning, even though the skies were clear) or tracks, no broken foliage leading away from the nearby hedgerow, nothing.

A few things we found funny about that encounter; The blue light, as bright as it was, didn't actually cast blue "light". The blue wasn't represented in the visible spectrum on any surface other than the map case it was reflected on, so it seemed as if the light wasn't truly a visible emission but rather something unidentifiable. Secondly, when we returned inside, the television was on a different channel; not unexplainable, as in our haste to get a better line of sight on the object, we may have bumped/knocked the remote or something. Still a bit odd though. Thirdly, our dog apparently didn't see anything at all out of place. He looked out the windows with us, but he either didn't see the object or didn't find it particularly interesting.

THAT is a great encounter! Interesting that it was a yet unknown color but you felt you saw blue...if i may take a little license w the account. I bet you and your Dad talked about that many times.
Any sound or smell? Was there anything under where it floated across? GREAT Re-telling. Ty.

73. Yeah, both the object and the lack of -emitted- light was way weird.

Jul 2018

My old man and I go back to that one time and time again. He's more inclined towards UFOlogy than myself; I'm Scully to his Mulder, essentially, but we saw what we saw and both accounts are identical.

There was no sound produced at all from either the area of the object or in the local environment. At least, none of memorable note; Local fauna and flora sounds may have been affected in one way or another but my senses were a bit more attuned to the giant floating ball of incomprehensible light. No smells, either, or if they were there, they were masked by being out in a semi-rural area with all the accompanying scents (manure, dirt, woodland, et cet). The night was uneventful, it was a cool summer so if the air temperature had fluctuated it was within normal range and otherwise unnoticeable... I'm trying to think of other things of note, but aside from the floating ball of light, nothing immediately sticks out. Then again, this was... at least ten years ago, so memory may fail.

The only thing under its path was grass; it was mildly wet, which I wrote off as dew but ...in just-realized-this-moment retrospect, what the fuck was dew doing on the grass at around one in the morning... but we didn't take a sample or anything.

And you're welcome, bud. It's an interesting story, one that I'm fond of telling all the moreso because of my own skepticism of it. Were I to tell myself that story pre-event, I'd laugh in my own face.

59. Years ago we were at my mother's house that sits in the middle of a big field.
Sun Jul 8, 2018, 03:22 PM
Jul 2018

Present there was my mother and 5 children she had at the time, me and Mr. Shraby and our 4 children, my sister-in-law with 2 children, my other sister-in-law with her two. The kids my mother and I had were in the 10-14 year old range. The other ones were younger.

Adults were in the house visiting and all the kids were outside playing at dusk. They came running in and wanted the binoculars to see the airplane outside. While they were in the house, the airplane moved around to the east side of the house where the patio door was and it was by the apple trees about 50 feet from the house and about as high off the ground as the apple trees were tall. By then it was almost real dark out. It was one of those black nights with no moon.
It hung by the apple trees so everybody was gawking out the patio doors to try to see what it was just hanging there. There was no noise (not a helicopter) and there were lights on inside it.

Mr. Shraby and my sister-in-law hogged the binoculars, the rest of us had to peek and peer. It hung there probably 15 minutes or so then went over the apple trees toward the east.

We never could figure out what it was.

Then again about 3 years ago in the daytime Mr. Shraby and I were watching the seagulls flying and diving around after the bugs that had hatched. They do that a couple times a summer and while watching them a large sort of cigar shaped or missile shaped plane? flew very slowly between our house and the town water tank at about the height of the tank. Neither one of us thought to grab the digital camera we have and we never did to this day figure out that it was.

A bunch of them were living there that summer. My husband described it as rather large and it hovered in front of them for several minutes. One of the women was freaked by the encounter and would not talk about it 25 years later. I would ask my husband for more info but he died ten years ago. We talked about it several times and he was sure of what he saw. But then he claimed to see Don Juan too.
