Pioneering funk artist, songwriter and singer George Clinton brings his bands Parliament and Funkadelic to Dayton on July 19, part of Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway's free summer concert series.
George Clinton is one of the most sampled songwriters in music history, and is famously known for hit singles such as "Flashlight," "Atomic Dog" and "
Not Just) Knee Deep." He is considered to be the father of funk after he began adding elements of acid rock to R&B in the 1970s, developing the sound.
Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will perform their hits trackside starting at 9 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The concert will kick off with LYD featuring Yolanda Drake performing original songs and classic hits at 6:30 p.m. Then, at 7:30 p.m., neo funk band MojoFlo will bring hard-hitting horns, seductive melodies and a well-crafted show to the stage.
