Have you ever tried to screw with the ad-bots?

You know, the ones that track the ads you click on, the sites you visit -- via their embedded ads -- and try to create a profile and put you in some demographics so that they know what ads to show you next?

Lately, I like to click on the random ones, just to see what they're about. I'm currently seeing a lot of ads for ocean fishing boats, pre-fab warehouses, and industrial safety gear. For a while, I steered it toward sending me ads about mens shoes. Lots of ads for mens shoes...

I'm thinking hovercrafts next, maybe?

I get knitting ads. It's interesting. Of course, I like to knit. Sophia4 Jul 2018 #1

I click on all banner ads that are wrong wing. It costs pay per clicks, so you are costing them money. Also when you go to other sites that use google ads, I click on them again, since they have feeds that know you clicked before, so I keep clicking.

I have to rely on friends and free wi-fi so I hope I am ok and cost them $$. If anything the enablers of the conservative mythos love more is $$ an every click you make cost them.

I just let those sit for a while and don't click on anything.

Annoying, too, is that I have repeatedly clicked "don't show" for certain ads, but they keep showing them.

So I quit hiding them and just went back to acting like I don't see them. (Oh! Look at all the verb tenses...lol.)
