(15,380 posts)My first ferret was given to me by a friend who could no longer care for her and was very well-trained. Had the run of the household. I would come home from work and not be able to find her, but she would always make an appearance about an hour after my arrival. One day while in my home office, I needed a rubber band and went to the kitchen to get one out of the junk drawer. When I opened it, there she was sleeping - and this was a jam-packed junk drawer. She had been opening the cabinet doors underneath the drawer, hopping onto the upper shelf, going to the back then jumping up and grabbing the back of the drawer to pull herself up and into the drawer.
After returning to my home office, I thought that I should maybe put rubber bands around the knobs of the cabinet to keep her out. So I went back to the kitchen, opened the junk drawer to get more rubber bands, and... there she was asleep again. In less than a minute and a half of my taking her out of the drawer, doing my thing with the rubber band, and returning to the drawer, she had gotten back in.
