A little gift

The Adagio in G minor for violin, strings and organ continuo, is a neo-Baroque composition popularly attributed to the 18th century Venetian master Tomaso Albinoni, but in fact composed almost entirely by the 20th century musicologist and Albinoni biographer Remo Giazotto.

A bit unorthodox, but I like the version by The Doors. It was one of Jim Morrison's favorite pieces, too.

And another version, accompanying the final stanzas of Morrison's poem An American Prayer:

Been thinking of you/your wisdom, re: left side 'ache,' due to awkward position I use to take photos, leaning on open car door/frame.

Few days 'ache', ibuprofen not effective. Aleve better/useful? Acetominophen codeine preferred?

Happy weekend!

It's a more long-lasting formulation than ibuprofen, so that's why you're finding it more effective. Acetaminophen is a completely different kind of medication. I haven't found it to be effective for these cases. Acetaminophen/codeine is Tylenol-3. It's addictive, so I don't recommend it.

Thanks for the inspiration. I'm now listening to YouTube renditions of the 'Adagio' one after the other...

Incredibly moving piece.

When I was younger, I used to appear in a production of the Living Last Supper at my church every Easter, and the Adagio was always used as the intro to the performance.

Almost forgot: a scene from the 1975 action thriller Rollerball with James Caan, with the 'Adagio' as a lyrical interlude.

I love the Canon in D by Pachelbel; have since I was a kid. One year, when I was about twelve, my mother got an LP with the Canon on it. It also had twelve contradances by Beethoven, Sleigh Ride by Mozart, and the Adagio. I fell in love with it at once, and have never fallen out...
