(9,729 posts)Just Netflix and Prime provide more than enough entertainment for me, especially since I get HBO through Amazon Prime. I wish more people would cut the cord. Maybe, then, the cable companies would adjust their prices accordingly.

(6,931 posts)We chose YoutubeTV because they had the sports we need (tennis, premier league) but I miss a few things like HGTV, and my beloved Seattle Mariners.

(34,136 posts)We have PrismTV which uses up a significant portion of our DSL. This past weekend we had a technician out since one of our boxes went bad. He told me that CenturyLink is phasing out PrismTV, at least in our area, and transitioning customers to DirecTV either with dishes or streaming.
I wanted to just give up PrismTV and get Sling for streaming the basic cable channels. The cost for each is about the same with the deal we have for PrismTV right now. But my husband is not ready to give it up. We have Rokus on our other TVs but the one he uses the most only has the Prism box.
I mostly watch BritBox, Netflix, AcornTV, Hulu, and CuriosityTV. Most days I watch MSNBC over Prism until I can't handle the news, and then start streaming. My husband pretty much watches MSNBC all the time.
Our deal for Prism is good for another year and a half but a year from now we will be leaving for three months in the UK. I may just shut off Prism, DSL, and the streaming services while we're gone then go full streaming when we get back.

We replaced Comcast ($226 per month for tv and internet) with Sonic Internet (unlimited high speed fiber optic for $40 per month) and Hulu ($40-ish and an antenna ($25 one time cost) for our local channels out of the air, and we already had Netflix and Amazon Prime (about $100 each per year--- we renew as our xmas gift to the house each year). Add $100 for our phones (unlimited data), and the totals are about the same, but no $$ goes to Comcast. They thought we couldn't tell when we were being throttled, and they also thought everyone would just go along with their multi-tier pricing crap.
Edited to correct my damned math: the $100 for phones wasn't part of the Calculation before dumping Comcast. We really are saving a lot o$$ now.
