Perfect margarita?

Tonight it was a very clean friend distilled tequila and fresh squeezed orange and lime, no salt.

Lot of shaking. My puppy Rain was slobbering on the shaker frost...

I may have drank margarita out of her water dish.

Tasted fine. Even the ducks had a go.

3. I like Grand Marnier instead of Cointreau

Even though triple sec is more traditional. Part of the reason is because I always have Grand Marnier on hand because I use it for other things. Cointreau would only get used for margaritas and I don't drink that many cocktails to begin with. The other reason is because I just like Grand Marnier better, especially when made by the 3-2-1 recipe.

4. I have been using Grand Marnier lately (lately meaning a few times in the last year or so)

because it has been a little cheaper at my usual store, but I prefer the flavor of Cointreau. Triple sec is meh. (makes a good drink called a perfect screw, though - OJ, vodka, triple sec, squeeze of lime)

I don't use Cointreau or Grand Marnier for anything else and when I do I use the whole bottle (s) - margaritas are only made in bulk when I bother. LOL

5. Cointreau is triple sec

It's just a very good example of triple sec. All triple sec is orange liqueur, but not all orange liqueur is triple sec. Grand Marnier is an example of orange liqueur which isn't triple sec. If you want to stay with the original recipe which called for triple sec, then Cointreau is the obvious choice unless you want to save some money and go with a cheaper triple sec. A lot of people cheap out on the tequila as well using ones that have a high mescal content, which is a shame as there's lots of excellent inexpensive tequilas out there.

I picture that cheap shit from the bottom shelf of the liquor section at the grocery store. along with all the teen girl flavors of "schnaps"

7. Which is undoubtedly why they dropped it from their label a long time ago

There’s not much standards on what can be called triple sec. There’s a lot of rot-gut and a few fine examples. There’s also many out there who simply buy so-called margarita mix and combine with cheap tequila and run it through a blender with ice.

11. I do agree. Salt is needed, but in a pinch I do my best, ;)

As to my not having the proper mixers, my apologies to Archer and my father.

I didn't have Cointreau or triple sec so, orange liqueur replaced with an orange off the tree and extra tequila...

Ever since retiring, i'm trying to produce what i eat or drink, or trade for it. Now i just have to make my own orange liqueur. Next year maybe.

Peace
