15-90 beats per second on those wings. Whew! I wonder if the diet changes to trigger some sort of natural instinct to fly out of the nest, or, if it's just a function of size alone. Thanks for the video.

Some people had a camera streaming a hummingbird that nested in their yard for several years. People watched it constantly, living the drama of life and death with them. It was amazing. Phoebe eventually stopped nesting there, I think.

She didn't return, and nobody found out what happened to her. The guy (a dentist, as I remember) that owned the house at the time rescued the chicks and brought them to a bird rehab that he had worked with before.

Yeah, I was hooked on the 'hummer-cam', too!

I need to replant my red 4 o'clocks, we used to get so many hummingbirds and now those bushes are gone I only rarely see them around my few red zinnias.
