Orange Is the New Black star Danielle Brooks says season 6 will be 'quite a circus'
Goodbye, Litchfield!
Picking up in the aftermath of season 5s prison riots, the sixth season of Orange Is the New Black finds the inmates weve come to love languishing in maximum security. This new environment will be completely different than what they were used to up on the hill and will test them in new ways from awful guards to antagonistic fellow prisoners.
Its going to be quite a circus to see how these women navigate so much newness in their world while still dealing with [their own] baggage, cast member Danielle Brooks tells EW about the new season, adding that Taystee and her cohorts have to figure out how to stay alive when they feel like they have nothing or no one to motivate them, and they feel very alone.
Ahead of the season premiere, Brooks breaks down how this season compares to the emotional fifth season, the new environment, and more.
Orange Is the New Black Season 6 Review: Maximum Security, Medium Payoff
Kohan kept rebooting Weeds every year or two after that. Orange Season Six, on the other hand (it debuts Friday on Netflix; Ive seen the whole thing), feels stuck between a reboot and a reset. At times, it commits deeply to the harsher realities of life in max harsher than some viewers may have a taste for, particularly with how much darker the real world has gotten since the shows debut(*) while other stories seem indistinguishable from the kind of wacky hijinks that were part of everyday life back at camp.
