His dad and and dad's univ colleagues were stunned. His dad's friend, who'd been on his college basketball team, couldn't get his head around the concept!

being so tiny I was the perfect target for Red Rover-surprised I didn't get my arm broken.

Billy Joel put it best:

You can get just so much
From a good thing
You can linger too long
In your dreams
Say goodbye to the
Oldies but goodies
Cause the good ole days weren't
Always good
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems.

(Keeping the Faith, from the "An Innocent Man" album)

when listening to the music of my college years, particularly tunes that remind me of the best times - Fleetwood Mac, Eagles... It's there, in the museum, I know it's there, I can dust it off and listen any time I want, but I don't. But I could. And no concerts, either. 1976 is best left in 1976. Knowing it's there is enough.

Not sure I agree with the "tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems..." line, but ya gotta move on.

I LOVED Red Rover. I was actually pretty good at it, particularly when you consider that I was about 3/4s the size of the average kid my age. I guess they can't play it nowadays because kids could get hurt, but hey! My best friend sprained her wrist and I was SOOOO jealous. I never seemed to be able to get hurt. No broken bones until I was in my 40's!

Had forgotten the game and how much I liked to play it until I saw the youtube video.
