(11,033 posts)No one feeds cats in this house without asking if they have already been feed - no matter how much they are complaining of hunger.

(34,120 posts)He doesn't even check his food dish, just comes in through the cat door and starts screaming. I tried walking into the kitchen and explaining to the cat he needed to use his indoor voice, but my husband just went ahead and fed him. Now the cat has us both trained - the cat sings the song of his people and we feed him.
The thing is, he is not fat. In fact last year over the summer he got down to skin and bones and I was worried we'd have to put him to sleep he was so weak. He recovered in the fall and now his weight is where we want it. So if feeding him ever three hours day and noght is what it takes, we'll do it for him.

(11,033 posts)Our cats ARE fat and cannot be fed more than the scheduled meals. And yes, when I come home in the afternoon they will almost always try to convince me they haven't been fed but I've learned to ask.
