The DU Lounge

Got my appraisal back today. It was over the purchase price. Instant equity. Hopefully, I'll know in the next couple of days if my loan is approved and everything is on track for closing. Today was estimated closing date, but estimates don't always work. Trying not to fall in love with the house until closing (but I'm already, thinking about window treatments and wall colors....I appreciate the need for interiors being painted in neutral, but beige and me aren't the best of friends).

(22,239 posts)It looks nice as it is now, but my furniture is neutral as well and neutral on neutral tends to be boring. I like more of a grey/green. I've definitely experimented in the past with some bold colors (with varying degrees of success...the mustard gold color lasted a month before I was painting again). I like to be safe and make the room pop with accessories like bolder throw pillows and such. Either way, that's the fun of getting a new place.

(17,622 posts)..is it mauve?..with white trim. It looks so rich and smart.
I have neutral walls with an accent wall in each room.. Mostly red! I ( a guy I hired) put fake river rock up half up one wall then I bought a mantle off ETSY...it was made from the wood of a 100 yr old storm damaged tobacco barn. Its gorgeous. I display Native American baskets I make....then the top half of the wall is red with a painting of a moose- with the same color red in the back round. Theres so much you can do with your house. You will have fun!!!

I'm definately into quiet grey colors.
And always paint the ceilings to match the walls.
Its a cozy & finished look.
Have fun!

(2,162 posts)it's a Sherwin Williams color. I have it on all my walls and love it. Everything else is colorful and it sets such a nice tone.

(17,003 posts)and some sheets of poster board. Cut the poster board in half, paint away, then tape to the wall. It gives you a chance to see how it looks in different lighting conditions. It has saved me from some serious color disasters. Plus you can put them next to each other before taping to the wall to see how they go with each other. Fingers crossed for you.

(7,754 posts)real estate for years. Always suggested people repaint if they had crazy colors before they put their house on the market but I love bright and fun colors and you should do what pleases you.
