Yesterday evening I watched part of a Cubs baseball game. While I thought the game was boring, I thought the commercials were terrific. Wide variety of all types from cars, beers, food, etc. I find them interesting because I look at the time and effort needed to make them and with their short message, how perfect the camera angles are, music, colors etc. A long time ago, I used to teach about commercials and how they were made and attract people to watch for 30 seconds or a minute. I like to look at the food commercials especially, because I know that that food has been colorized, sanitized and beautified. McDonalds is not the same as the commercials. And some of the food commercials and others have music...Music?? yep..and sayings.. Do you remember this one..."Winston tastes good like a cigarette should." If you do, the last time that one was played anywhere was in 1970. After 1970, cigarette commercials were outlawed on TV and radio...1970??? Wasn't that a while ago?

(14,018 posts)do you live in North Carolina, or in a state where marijuana has been legalized?
I appreciate your laid back, mellow approach to things.
The last baseball game I watched was the first ever Cubs / Rockies game at Mile-Hi Stadium. Chicago catcher Rick Wilkins won it with a two run homer. I was in the stands.

(38,427 posts)I love commercials....Sometimes I look back on You Tube for very old ones. And I might add, I was somewhat surprised to find almost all of them right there.

(14,018 posts)I used to love the Cubs, and enjoyed baseball generally. I grew up in suburban Chicago til age 9, and would continue to visit Wrigley when back for weddings and funerals.
I still smile every time I think of Ernie Banks or Sweet Swingin' Billy Williams. Fergie. Santo. Any of them.
So yeah... go Cubs!

(22,702 posts)And yes, they spend an incredible amount of money on car commercials. I remember a lot of those old cigarette jingles. "Come up to the Kool taste, the taste to stay with, every time you smoke."
