After it became insufferable and we were overrun with the damn things, my co-worker kind of lost it and whenever he killed one, he would tape them to this white board, and give them each a Latin name.

I just saw this pic on the internet, and it reminded me of that situation.

They are not my bugs, I didn't tape them, it is a pic on the internet that reminded me of a real-life situation that was performed by someone other that myself that I found humorous.

I do tend to see things differently than many people, but I am shaped by my life experiences, like everyone is. My life experiences have not been close to what most people would consider normal.

that correct? Flies and mosquitos mounted for view, and numbered as in the first one. I have seen some strange stuff on the internet, but this one is ....????

But, and this is an important but..this did not hurt anyone. And flies about and mosquitos, well they ain't the greatest gift to the world, and there are a whole lot, and a few wouldn't be missed..

I love the one under glass. I have an enclosed "sun porch" that has been renamed "the weird porch" because it is where the extra strange things I have ended up with reside. It includes a few ancient mounted heads (a steer, two mule deer, a javelina, and a black bear), a disturbingly large oil painting of my husband as a small boy that hung in his mother's living room all of his life (he is a saint), an old inflatable oscar meyer wiener, a bunch of old hats (cowboy and fancy lady), a set of elk antlers, odd "art objects" etc. But there is also a mummified toad that I found, not one of those tourist ones - though I do have a tourist version of a blow fish made into a small hanging lantern.

I have always wondered just what evolution was thinking when it allowed that branch of species to exist/survive. If you look them up they apparently serve no purpose other than to be food for other life forms but there are plenty of other things for those life forms to eat. Unless their purpose is to keep certain species populations in check because Mosquitoes are very good at disease delivery.

Why do they exist at all, other than to make us miserable and to spread disease? They are absolutely useless.
