So dramatic! Dude from the weather channel bracing for his life, as 2 dudes just stroll past. #HurricaneFlorence
Too funny

(1,000 posts)I gave up on the weather channel years ago.

(54,770 posts)wrong way. You could see the disappointment when Florence was downgraded from Category 4.

(4,723 posts)I was living in Tallahassee, Florida at the time, and there was a tropical storm threatening the area. Of course, I turned to the Weather Channel to keep up with it. This reporter was on, seemingly buffeted by high winds. In the back ground were people calming walking around. Here I was, trying to keep informed, and instead I got a bad dramatic scene with a lousy actor. If I wanted a cheap movie with bad acting, I'd have just hauled out my copy of John Waters' "Mondo Trasho." Far better entertainment.
I haven't watched Weather Channel since.
I remember the Weather Channel back in the 80s especially. It was not a very colorful thing, but it was good, dependable weather information with professional acting on-air staff.

(29,213 posts)and some sort of rite of passage for every network reporter...
but I sure wish they wouldn't send these morons out into the wind / rain to stand around and report on it.
station a camera out there, fine...
but quit sending these people out there to a) be targets and b) look ridiculous when it isn't as bad as they would like
Remember, it's not that the wind is blowing, it is WHAT is in the wind that is blowing. Random sheet of plywood hitting you at 50 mph has got to hurt.

(14,961 posts)about TWC playing 24/7, perhaps it's the familiarity of Jim Cantore/Stephanie Abrams, etc. or just knowing you are not alone.
