Study: people tend to cluster into four distinct personality "types"

While hoomons tend to range widely in our distribution of manifested traits, they're seeing four distinct clusterings when viewing the main five personality traits.

I've always thought that the wide range of traits and roles we've exhibited over the ages, has been what made us such a successful a species.

And that we're so very cunning.

People love taking online quizzes; just ask Buzzfeed and Facebook. A new study has sifted through some of the largest online data sets of personality quizzes and identified four distinct "types" therein. The new methodology used for this study—described in detail in a new paper in Nature Human Behavior—is rigorous and replicable, which could help move personality typing analysis out of the dubious self-help section in your local bookstore and into serious scientific journals.

Literally "a Serbian calm," or, colloquially, "the epitome of calm." When my wife's cousin first visited the Virginia house I grew up in, on the shore of a peaceful lake, she said, "so this is why you two (my brother and I) are so laid back."

I've been called lots of things in the meantime, but "neurotic" hasn't yet been one of them.

This seems a little limited. I don't really see myself in any one of these categories. I don't think a lot of people would see themselves this narrowly.
