They were both freaked and reacted in their own ways. We don't have any way of knowing from still photos their entire reactions. The one on the left could have turned into a tornado of screeches, claws, and bites a split second after the pic was taken. The one on the right could have just been wailing like a baby.
Both were in danger and both were rescued and that is good.
