9. GREAT podcast.

I've learned so much, not only information, but perspective, from listening to Preet's thoughtful interviews and comments. I love his dry sense of humor, too. The story about where to find the best slice of pizza in New York a few weeks ago was really entertaining, and the interviews with people like Joyce Vance, Bill Browder, and Steve Schmidt are enlightening, instructive, and often sobering.

I listen almost every week, and when I miss it I catch up later. Preet's podcast is one of the very few I'd recommend as a must-listen.

It breaks down controversial issues surrounding the White House at the current time and what sort of power Trump has in regards to them.

for instance -
Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History, Backstory, The Memory Palace.

I also listen to The History of English (not for dozing .

Oh, and a bunch of stuff on Gimlet (more narrative type stuff). When I can't sleep, I listen to these.

I also like BBC Radio 4's In Our Time (wide range of subjects).

But I don't listen to NPR, so I don't know.

But you can still access their voluminous downloadable archive, going back several years, via the same link.

Seth Andrews has guests that highlight the problems with religions, how religion and politics intertwine, sometimes just talking about what is on his mind and current events. The conversations are always calm and thoughtful (no yelling or abusive language). He provides links to websites discussed in each podcast.

Stephanie Miller is daily and a great show (at 4.95 a month), though her extremely annoying co-host/producer, Travis, is making it harder & harder to listen to, IMHO.

A collection of Jean Shepherd shows. The last update was in 2009, but there are well over 1000 shows archived in the collection. If you liked 'A Christmas Story', this is the collection for you (Shep wrote and was the narrator in the movie). Lots of tales of Flick, Schwartz and the rest of the gang, along with dramatic readings of Robert Service poetry, tales from his Army days, and a lot more.

Her daily show is on several radio stations and FSTV for free (FTSV is a free Roku app)

Her Happy Hour podcasts used to be $4.95 but are now free

MFM is freeking hilarious. I have been listening to them while writing GOTV postcards and updating my VAN data .

SSADGM! "Elvis, want a cookie?" followed by Siamese vocal acrobatics.

I listen to people talking about role-playing games or even podcasts of actual play by groups. Also several where they just talk about wargames or Magic: the Gathering.

I’m a big ol’ dork.

19. 10000 Nos and Off Camera

10000 Nos (10000nos.com) is hosted by working, but not famous, actor Matt Del Negro. He's in his mid 40s and his life of auditions has amounted to "10000 Nos". Yet he perserveres. So the podcast is about perserverance. His guests are from all walks of life and it's really good, inspiring stuff. Here's one if my favorites with actor, writer, director, producer Mark Duplass.

Another is Off Camera with photographer/director Sam Jones. Most of his guests are actors, with the occassional musician and other creative types.
