If he "flew through" the scene, he shot this from an airplane. Remember, all movies were shot on film back then - and you would have needed a hell of a big drone to contain a film camera and its operators. A Predator or Reaper drone wouldn't have been big enough.

If the background was stationary, this is a crane shot - which is exactly what it sounds like. He's not very high up, so a utility company bucket truck would have worked.

The struggling, salt stained and abandoned fields are distinctive.

Route 155 (near the intersection with 6th Ave/Dairy Ave) was the location of the famous "crop duster" scene from the Alfred Hitchcock film North by Northwest.

You can see the bus off on the right in that picture, and it doesn't look that far away.

Dude was a genius, for sure.
