The Science Group has enlightened me on how sloths poop

There isn't a thread there about this subject but I clicked on a link in a post and then clicked on another.

A sloth poops once a week and the excrement can weigh up to 1/3 of the body weight of the sloth (before going poop). The sloth also does a little dance before and after making a deposit. In human terms, a 210 pound man would dance a jig, deposit a 70 pound load in the toilet , do another dance and walk out of the bathroom weighing 140 pounds. The following week, the process would be repeated.

I love DU.

The production crew happened to be filming when a sloth backed down a tree truck to about three or four feet above the ground and "went". Poor thing looked so happy afterwards. Such slow metabolisms, I guess.

the original article said they risk their lives to poop so I wanted to know about that. It is risking their lives to descend from the tree tops and possibly become prey for other, faster animals.
Poor things, they must be uncomfortable a lot of the time.

"The sloth comes down from from the tree once a week to urinate and defecate. To the insects living below, this is known as the worst day of the week"
