Changing my passwords

getting ready for the russian invasion during the midterms. DU was the first I changed. Hoping we don't have a repeat of our site being taken out during this election.

I also put new batteries in my smoke alarm and brought in my plants for the winter

i.e. Facebook, Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn, etc. Two-factor is the single most effective measure you can take to protect your important accounts.

I don't visit many sites any more, too many risks :/ Damn it. The web was my oyster, and people had to ruin it. I'll update an old saying-If viruses hadn't existed, the government would have created them.

...it breaks my heart to hear that. I take it personal and as an indictment of how we do our job. You should absolutely partake in social media, and the many other things the internet offers. You just have to protect yourself. I often equate it to going outside in the winter. Just protect yourself a little bit, put on a warm jacket, wear decent shoes, and you can have a lot of fun. If you have any questions, for sure message me. I'm happy to offer free advice.

I have my favorite sites and I use them. Before I got discriminating, I picked up malware and a couple of viruses. I got rid of them, without losing info or hardware, sadder but wiser. I will definitely keep you in mind. Do you ever check the Computers and Internet forum on DU? I have posted problems a couple of times. There are some smart, helpful people on there

I worked in computer operations for many years, and before that, worked in the reference dept. at the public library. I knew I wanted to be on the other side of the computer and was happy that I found jobs that I was qualified to do that were satisfying. I'm retired now.
