Rare Thursday night drinking thread.

I'm at a three-day conference, and staring at four boring hotel room walls.

Drinking helps.

That, and some company...

Sometimes I find things a bit slow when traveling, so that's when I'm glad I have my laptop! My portable window on the world.

What's the conference's topic, if I may ask?

5. Just general continuing medical education.

Any time there are some interesting, helpful clinical pearls, I write them down in my notebook. I always consult my notebook for 2-3 minutes before starting clinic each day.

6. No. So far, it's a pain in the ass, but not that kind of pain.

7. Today is my birthday - hanging out in Pagosa Springs, Co

Soaked in the geothermal springs twice today, and am looking at a bottle of Apothic Red that someone left here.... debating opening it, but not sure where the wine opener disappeared to....

A priest, a rabbi, and an Irishman walk into a bar. The bartender says: "What is this? A joke?"

17. A young Mormon couple, ...on their wedding night....

They are in the first hotel room either one had ever been in - and they are starting to get frisky!! He tales off his ‘special socks’ - she looks at his feet and says ‘OMG - what happened to your feet!’....

She says ‘ don’t you mean Polio’? He says with a sad loving whisper ‘ no, Tolio - it is a very rare disrase’.... she sighs and the mood get more heated - he takes off his pants.....

And stifles a scream looking at his legs!! He sees her distress and says ‘when I was a teenager I had a terrible case of Kneesles’. She is shocked, but it composed herself - ‘is it related to measles?’ She asks.... no, he replies - it is rather rare..... this is their wedding night and hormones overtake them.... he takes off his underwear ...,

24. Here's a classic. (It helps if you could hear me do the accents.)

An Englishman, an Irishman, and a Scot walk into a fly-infested bar. Flies everywhere. Each of them orders a pint, and when they arrive, sure enough, there's a fly in each glass of beer.

The Englishman says: "Bartender, I'm frightfully sorry, but there seems to be a fly in my beer. Do be good enough to pull me another, there's a good fellow."

The Irish looks at the fly in his glass for a moment, then says: "Oh Saint Mary, to hell with it!" and drinks down his beer, fly and all.

The Scot reaches into his glass, seizes the fly, and says: "Spit it oot, you wee bastard! Spit it oot!"

I can relate.... to all cast members and add in some weird witchery on my maternal side.

...booze for me, but I am quite content with a mug of really cold milk and some frosted shortbread cookies from Panera.

I hope he conference gets more interesting.

30. Does your employer cover the whole cost of attending a conference for you?

Mine doesn't. My annual CME "allowance" would barely cover the cost of registration for most 3-4 day conferences, with no reimbursement for food, lodging or airfare. I haven't been to a conference on forever - can't afford to go. I'm pretty sure they cover it for themselves.
