A silent German movie from 1915. It's a tale from Jewish mythology that inspired "Frankenstein". https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/the-golem

A rabbi makes a monster out of clay and with the sacred word emet (Hebrew for truth) brings the monster to life to fight the oppressors who plan to kill the Jews. The sad part of all of this is that the film was made in Germany in 1915.
