I just wonder how safe it is being around him. He's adorable, but I wonder if he would shoot off his quills if someone tried to take a pumpkin away from him.

The quills aren't anchored inside the porcupine's skin. If you touch the tip of a quill, it's sharp enough to easily penetrate your skin and there are little barbs on it that keep it embedded. Then when you move away from the animal, they just slip right out of the sockets.

Until I saw one of his videos some time ago, I did not know what kind of sound a porcupine makes! He's pretty interesting, I have a thing for animal behavior.

He seems to be really communicating....certainly as much as my cats do..( one of them is a talker)

I really think he's talking.... I swear he said pumpkin!
