We finally have an offer on our house and our realtor is now presenting the counter offer to the buyers.

The house has been on the market since last May. My husband and I are going through a divorce. We custom built the house in 2010-11 after the house that was there burned down in 2007. When the house burned, I was 3 weeks post my first hip replacement. Today I am 6 days post my 2nd hip replacement.

It's all very emotional. It will be a huge relief if we can come to agreement with these buyers.

I'm hoping for some of the famous DU vibes to seal the deal.



On edit: Just heard from our realtor that our counter offer was accepted! Yay!

Having been through two divorces and the related property and financial issues, I sympathize with your circumstances. It must be painful to have to give up the home that you built for yourselves. And why not throw in some physical issues, just for fun?!

Here's a crazy thought: Your life will get better, perhaps sooner than you think. In my own life, amazingly, I'm getting married again! Either love finds a way, as in "third time's the charm" OR three strikes and your out! (wink)

You're brave to go for three. Second time around on this one which lasted 32 years. I don't think I have it in me to try again.

I filed for divorce last week. We bought a repo house about 11 years ago and have done a lot of work. It's finally close to the way I wanted it and now I can hardly stand to be in it. I'm not sure how we're going to handle the house. In a way, I don't care. In another way, I don't want him to get to enjoy living in it. I'll probably have to make myself get over it, I suppose.

It makes me so sad to be in our house now which I pretty much designed. Too big for me to live alone in it and I couldn't afford to buy him out anyway.

So I have moved to something completely different. If the house sells I'm going to upgrade to a larger apartment in my downtown high rise with the fabulous view.
