Ok, every other day on the concrete floor.

I was appalled when I saw the price a few years ago, but we've got our money's worth.

carpet upstairs, I'm vacuuming the downstairs carpet at the same time. Kidding, but my Dyson does have a lot of power.

it had a five year warranty and we were having some problems with it. They paid for us to send it back, fixed it and treated us wonderfully. Even had customer service in the states.

After we got it back the hose cracked, my husband called then and they said that the hose wasn't under warranty but they sent us one anyway. Couldn't have been more satisfied.

My only complaint is because it's the pet model it's heavy and I really don't care for the hose and how that works but suction is wonderful.

from two German Shepherds and lots of dust.

It's a Dyson Animal. The thing is great. It gets up dirt and hair I can't even see on the rugs.

Right now it's out of my price range but the vacuum that I do have is horrible. I have been wondering if it was one of those things that is worth saving up for. I've heard from others that it didn't live up to the hype, so I'm hesitant. My parents have an old Kirby that still works 31 years later and sucks so hard the carpet is lifted. I'd like something like THAT, but that weighs about 1/4 of what that old beast weighs

best vac. ever. we're talking 3-cats-and-dog-hair kinda good.

it was only 200 plus vac bags every once in a while.

I researched and agonized and flirted endlessly w/various Dysons but in the end I bought this guy:

It's a Shark Navigator Lift-Away Pro. I was about ready to pull the trigger and buy a Dyson online when my old vacuum died on a day when I really needed to get the house clean, so I had to run out and buy one locally. The Shark had popped up frequently in my research and was well reviewed, so I went for it.

It has super-great suction; it's light and maneuverable and it looks a little like R2D2 which pleases the Star Wars-loving mr beac. The dust canister has a latch on the bottom to dump all the stuff out so it's relatively mess-free.

And it has a five-year warranty and "never clog" technology, just like the Dyson, so I am optimistic.

Good luck in your search. It's overwhelming and I am probably lucky that fate forced my hand or I might still be "deciding" on a new one and vacuuming with my old and dreadful one.

ETA: I paid just over $200 with tax.

and it's a small cannister type, and is perfect for all those stairs. No bag. Good suckage. And I NEVER like vacuum cleaners.

For Mother's Day. It's a refurbished model, the DC14. I paid just under $200 for it on Overstock.com, and free delivery. The refurbished vacuum cleaners are warranted for six months, so if anything goes wrong, it probably will in that time. When I unpacked it yesterday, it looked brand new.

Funny thing was, I didn't noticed it but the setting was on bare floors, instead of carpet. And it still out-performed any of my other vacs; Eureka, Dirt Devil and Hoover, to shame! I'm disappointed I have such a small house, I want to vacuum some more! This is the BEST vacuum cleaner I've ever owned, and it's quieter than any of the others, too! I love Dyson vacuums, too.

It is the best vacuum I have ever used. Even though it was a refurb it looked like new when I took it out of the box. Even had that new appliance smell. I also love that the filter is washable.

My previous vacuum was a bagless but the filter had to be replaced about every 3rd time it was used. And the filters were $18 each.

Now I want to upgrade to the Dyson ball vacuum or the Animal.

I find cleaning the cylinder an awful, dirty, dusty mess. a bag is so easy to pop out and change. And they have hepa filters too.

and my wife goes over to help her clean up on occasion (she recently had some surgeries and still has some back trouble) and EVERY time she comes back she won't stop raving about that damn Dyson.

I'm getting Dyson ball envy.

Do you think she's hinting? I suck at getting hints.
