I'm into all kinds of music: Indie, ambient, post-rock, World, and electronic. Is there a good online site for new music?

(497 posts)It's great because it doesn't automatically filter to stuff that it thinks you'll like. You get what you get; if you're a subscriber (which is free... donations are completely voluntary) and can't stand what you're hearing, you can have it play something else. In one set you might hear Bach followed by the Lone Bellow followed by the Clash followed by London Grammar followed by Dobet Gnahore... and there likely will even be a theme that ties them together.

(24,416 posts)Pandora and iHeart Radio have exposed me to some really neat music I might not have discovered otherwise and both are free (though you have to deal with some ads if you don't subscribe). Google Play Music has a Radio streaming mode, as does Spotify, though I don't think that they are as good as the first two and tend to repeat a lot.

(45,491 posts)Beware, it is kind insane, but I've found great new music and whole genres I had never know about.
The result is a map of genres, click on any genres and it will give you bands, listen to samples, see similar bands and genres. It is basically a map of the music universe.
