Its an exploration of all the true but still Urban Legends out there of Bill Murray showing up at random peoples events and being super nice and having fun with everyone. And it gets into why he maybe does stuff like that all the time and how absolutely genuine he is. It honestly sounds like he just really loves connecting with people and giving regular people a story they can tell, this one time I was at a random party and there was a commotion in the kitchen of the small apartment we were at and what did I see there? Bill Murray had come in and starting doing the dishes.
You can see the absolute joy in the people hes touched telling these crazy stories about how Murray showed up at their wedding reception and got everyone to start dancing, or how he had an extra ticket to a Cubs Playoff game and found a random fan on the street to bring with him. Its like he knows that he can give people a great story to tell for the rest of their lives and he has a genuine need to connect with regular people and thats what he gets from it. Really a great documentary that makes you think about life and whats important about living it. Bill Murray, who would have thunk he was some Zen master spreading joy.

(19,066 posts)He seems like he knows exactly how powerful of a gift fame is only because it can be used to give joy to others.
He doesnt have an agent or handlers. He has a very guarded 800 number that people who want to hire him can call that he occasionally checks himself. When he visits a city he revels in hopping on a bicycle and getting lost.
Everyones favorite story is when he hopped a cab for a long ride fron the Airport in San Francisco, he asked the cab driver what he really wanted to be doing. Driver answered I love to play saxophone but I work 12 hour days so I never get time to play or practice. Bill asks him, well where is your saxophone? Driver answers in the trunk. Bill, well shoot, pull over, I know how to drive a cab, grab your sax and sit and back and play for me. So he did, and Murray drove him around while he did what he wanted to do, and even stopped with him and treated him to bbq at a late night place in Oakland.
I guess he has a way about him when he does this stuff of not making it all about him, he really blends in and doesnt want make anyone uncomfortable. He wants to be part of their story, he doesnt want to be the story.
There are some really amazing celebrities out there. Most of who came from nothing and remember what its like to be a regular person. There are some jerks too, but there are many who really understand how powerful of a thing it is to be able to make someones evening memorable.

(14,019 posts)And you make a good point about how some people don't get twisted by fame or fortune.
He has always struck me as an introvert with an ability to act like an extrovert. I would imagine him to be a complex and interesting fellow.
