We just adopted another feline family yesterday from a no kill shelter... She came "home" and hid and havent heard from her since.

But this morning I coaxed her out ,,,she purred, she kneaded my belly,, and went back to hiding.

But it is progress,,,Felines ROCK!

I successfully leash-trained my 2 siamese when they were about 4 months old. Did it mainly because they loved to eat grass, and since they were indoor cats only this was the chance to maintain the leaves of my houseplants! Also had a siamese who had an addiction to the concrete floor in the basement furnace room. Every time we opened the door, he'd rush in and start licking the floor. Even the vet couldn't figure out why, but obviously there was something (cement??) missing in his diet! He lived to 19 so it certainly didn't do him any harm!

She came to us as a kitten in the engine compartment of my SIL's car. She was probably under 6 months. She was also my first cat.
Tried the leash right away. She just wouldn't do it, so we called a truce and let her have her way.

She lived to be 22. Siamese sure live a long time.

First failure - I could not get the harness on him, not even with help from my husband. Once, I got it on and strapped around his middle. That lasted about a second. Somehow he turned himself inside out - I think a tesseract was involved - and got out of the fastened harness.

We never got far enough to attempt to attach a leash and try to lead him.

He did learn to come when I called and will walk around the farm with me. He's seventeen now and does not make it very far. He'll lay down and wait for me to return, or simply return to the house via his cat door.

Obligatory picture of my cat:

He was helping us inspect the site prep for our new house. He also showed off how a Siamese mix blends into dirt!

I'll pass along your complement - he will appreciate your adoration.

We have been going to dog shows for decades, so wasn’t sure what to expect. It was so much fun! I loved the way the judges talk about each cat. And the owners were so eager to tell visitors about their breeds. It was much more laid back than a dog show.

It was great! He got to walk a small farm next door with baby turkeys and big vineyard and all manner of good things to watch and smell. He was recovering from CHF, and couldn't go out alone.
