Anyone here remember Ernie Kovacs gorillas?

Scared the piss out of me when I was a kid watching tv.
(This was my answer to a random poll of what irrational thing scared you when you were a a kid).

1. Seeing those skits the first time around, I was not impressed

I didn't share the grownups' appreciation until much later.

3. Remember them very well.

I considered Kovacs' show the TV equivalent of Mad Magazine.

My irrational thing was Daffy Duck turning into a snarling monster - Looney Tunes short.

4. Yeah, that was weird and creepy.

They were called "The Nairobi Trio" and there's lots of video on youtube.

I was just a kid, but thought it was innovative how Kovacs would pretend to smoke a cigar underwater, by spitting out a bunch of milk.

My husband and I thought they were hilarious!

Frank Sanrtra manned the mallets one time. The skits were simple enough for any one of Kovacs's friends and associates to step into the drummer's role without needing a rehearsal, and 'One take' Frank famously didn't do rehearsals.
