Some might remember I retired end of 2018
After 3 weeks of voluntary nothing, I started subbing.
One or twice a week.
But, today I got called to sub 7th grade science!!!
I've done all subject 4th & 5th, 6th & 7th grade English, 8th an 10th grade history and study hall proctor.
But, I started doing this to teach science, and, woo hoo!!!! First shot!
I'm psyched!
I've really been enjoying doing something useful like this!

(17,984 posts)It was so disappointing. I was there super early, prepared, ready to rock. I did nothing at all. They had planned to have the school counselors come in and go over the students' preparatory graduation materials. I was left with fifteen completely unstructured minutes at the end of each class.
Of course, I will try again, but I'm still disappointed with my first attempt.

(65,057 posts)Half day that started at lunch. Then, the next 70 minutes was teacher prep time, which means nothing to a sub.
The last 2 hours was OK, even though the last 30 minutes was study hall, it was math which is pretty much my wheelhouse.
The rest have been rewarding. Hang in there!
