A Thread for Air Travel Inconsistencies and Absurdities
- We booked tickets with Iberia. Never saw the name of another airline. No other airline was named on our boarding pass. At the airport we couldnt find an Iberia ticket counter. An employee who was helping us couldnt either. Finally she asked someone where it was and we were directed to a counter with a sign Level. The word Iberia was nowhere to be found. True, our flight number IBnnnnn was on the sign in small letters, but why would we examine that in the absence of Iberia? I understand that airlines cooperate and the booking airline isnt always the one that owns the plane. But usually they tell you!!!!
- In Gatwick, South Terminal, there is a rotunda where concourses 10-28 and 31-38, 89-95 meet. There is a huge round pillar in the middle, say 15 feet in diameter. None of the chairs are positioned so that you can sit and watch the gate assignments board.
- In that same rotunda, showing the direction to go for 10-28 and 31-38, 89-95, the board popped up with a gate assignment of 2. I asked a passing plane crewmember where 2 was. She directed me up a twisting ramp to a food court where there was a sign to gates 1-5. Did the designers think that a traveler would never end up in the rotunda without having noticed the gates 1-5 concourse back in the food court?
- Again in Gatwick, we went through a second security check after getting off one plane, to transfer to another. We figured it might be that we were switching terminals. They were very thorough and went after stuff the USA and Spain ignored like tiny toothpaste not put in the quart liquids plastic bag. THEN, at the gate, they put us through another spate of questions. You know, did you pack your own bags, etc. Why couldnt they ask us at that other security check?
- Why did hubby (83) have to remove his shoes (Gatwick, second security check) when I (74) did not????
Do you have experiences to report??
