We're spending the weekend there and haven't been in many years. What's the easiest and cheapest way to get around the city? We'll mainly be in Manhattan, but will be seeing the Freda show in Brooklyn. Lyft? Weekend subway pass? Cabs?

(63,221 posts)issue and you have the time, I would suggest Uber or Lyft, that way you get to see more of the city and it's just a lot more pleasant than the subway. I would especially take an Uber or Lyft later in the evening when the traffic isn't as bad.
If a free cab is available, I would flag that. Quicker than waiting for an Uber.
Depending upon how far you have to go, walking is definitely the best way to get around. I loved to just walk around NYC. There are so many great little surprises everywhere. One of my favorite parts of traveling is just exploring streets and neighborhoods.
Hope you have a great time!

(50,560 posts)A subway ride is $2.75. If you can manage more than 13 rides in the two days you'll be there, the $32 7-day unlimited MetroCard may be your best bet.
